San Diego, CA (3/13/2020) – The San Diego Silverbacks were excited to host the Santa Clarita Valley Tigers this Saturday 3/14/2020. However, protecting the health and safety of our players, coaches, staff, referees, fans, and community is paramount.
We have been in deep discussion with the LaBelle Developmental Football League (LDFL) and we have been monitoring the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak through updates from the County of San Diego, the Centers for Disease Control, and state and local health agencies.
After much discussion, the LDFL has decided to safeguard the health and well-being of all teams, owners, players, staff, referees, fans, and families, as well as media and the general public and has postponed the 2020 Spring Season in response to concerns around the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In compliance with state mandated restrictions on public events the San Diego Silverbacks regret that the remainder of our season will be postponed.
During this hiatus, the LDFL will discuss options to complete the season. They will also closely monitor the COVID-19 Pandemic along with any new developments.
The San Diego Silverbacks appreciate your ongoing and continued support. Please continue to visit our website for updates!!

The likes of the Inglewood Blackhawks, San Diego Silverbacks, Santa Clarita Tigers, So.Cal Apaches, and West Coast Lions are all chomping at the bit to play some regional opponents with the opportunity to raise the GDFL national championship trophy.
This is an exciting time to be a member of the Gridiron Developmental Football League, as we relaunch our West Coast brand. The San Diego Silverbacks' organization is deeply saddened by the news of James Haiman’s sudden passing on January 21st, 2019 due to a fatal motorcycle accident. Words cannot express the tremendous grief the San Diego Silverbacks' family is experiencing over the tragedy of his passing.
As a football team, family, and community, we are devastated. We mourn the tragic loss of life of our dear teammate and brother. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of James.
As we struggle to return to normalcy, we will celebrate his life with all the good memories we have shared. We will honor his legacy by annually awarding one player with the “James Haiman Award of Dedication”. James won this award in 2018, by vote of his teammates, coaches, and staff. He was the epitome of a friend, he was caring, respectful, and was always willing to help wherever needed. He will be truly missed and forever remembered.
